This episode I am joined by my mom, Kaye Garner, to talk about Steven Pressfield's self help book, The War of Art. This book deals with the road blocks that we face when ever we try to create something new. We discuss the book in depth including the resistance that we personally felt as we have tried to create things in the past. We also talk about Kaye's decision to become on English major, her over 20 year struggle to graduate with her Bachelor's and what is holding her back from writing a novel.
This episode was particularly special for me, not just because I had my mother on the show but also because we have decided to challenge ourselves to create more. During this episode, we agreed that we needed to be more creative in our lives so we are going to take the advice from The War of Art and start working every day towards a goal. That goal is that by February 22, both my mom and I will be posting creative projects on this website. Make sure to check back to see our progress.
I feel like I should also extend this great challenge to each of you our listeners and fans. If you feel so inclined, we would love to have you create something this next week. Whether it is a painting, writing something, baking, singing or whatever it may be. You can share your creations with us here at The KnowNothing Podcast either through our Twitter, Facebook page or directly through our email at firstname.lastname@example.org. However you decide to share it with us, we would love to see what projects you embark on during this next week. The important thing to remember is all it takes is dedication. Sit down every day and work at creating something.
We look forward to seeing what you create. I hope you enjoy the episode. Special thanks to Kaye Garner for being on this episode. Be sure to rate and review it on iTunes as well as leave comments. We love to hear from you.
